Project description
Impact Safety was entrusted by Imperial Oil Ltd. to facilitate Remote Confined Space Monitoring (RCSM) at their Kearl Lake location in the Oil Sands of Fort McMurray, Alberta.
As this was Impact’s first time providing RCSM on this location, challenges arose regarding the familiarity between the end-user and the system. Those challenges were mastered through direct engagement at the work-face and a pro-active approach.
The overall percentage of cost savings utilizing RCSM versus traditional confined space attendants for this project was 37.5%. Furthermore, we were able to reduce the risk exposure hours for personnel by 6,322 hours. Leading to cost benefits while increasing the overall safety.
Working together with the Imperial team on this project provided an excellent opportunity for mutual development and success. Impact Safety is looking forward to the next project at Imperial Oil Ltd.
