This project was another instance of Impact Safety providing Remote Confined Space Monitoring (RCSM) technology to Syncrude’s Mildred Lake facility in the Fort McMurray Oil Sands.
During this project, communication opened up between Syncrude and Impact Safety concerning RFID procedures. The improvement of the procedure enabled the RFID Controllers to clarify with Impact if the owner of the triggered RFID is present in a confined space – essential information for emergency services and the proper rescue.
The overall percentage of cost savings utilizing RCSM versus traditional confined space attendants for this project was 28.44%. Furthermore, we were able to reduce the risk exposure hours for personnel by 7,350 hours. Leading to cost benefits while increasing the overall safety.
